GENDER EQUALITY
"One cannot exist with out the other" .
The word "gender" itself depicts and imbibes the word "equal". On an average statistics says, around 67% of Total hours of work is contributed by women but only 10% of world income is paid to them.
Gender equality is one of the main objective which is listed under 17 goals of United nations sustainable development goals (UNSDG) which is picked up by human rights. I'm not a feminist. The problem is not with one gender, it calls for the conjunction of both the genders and to behave in good terms and respect as well. Men have taken their part. But we want equal half of everything. Equal half of respect Equal half of desire,Equal half of remuneration, Equal half of liberty And equal half of everything that is connected to human's rights and desires.
Who says we women are weak? That's absolutely wrong! We women are, Stronger than the strongest! Powerful than the most powerful and Courageous than the courage.
If we take a look into hindu ancient puranas, when the all the lords used every single weapon left to lambaste and destroy the malignant demon 'mahisha' (aka mahishasura) they created the power called 'Durga'. So, that so called 'Durga' is a women. They created her and used the power as a weapon to kill mahishasura. In modern days, we women have our surnames ended by our husband names. But those days our lords had their wife's (arthangi) names followed by their names. Such as Uma pathi, rohini pathi, gauri shankar, padmanabh, janakivalabh. Many names..
The problem is gender discrimination starts right from the womb. When they find that the baby is a girl they will abort it or after the birth they will throw it to the garbage or even kill it. Domestic violence! to most of the women in India after marriage they ill-treat their women just because she dint carry any money from her fathers home and contribute it to her mother - in-law which we call as 'dowry system'. Physical and psychological sexsual assaults, rapes, sexual harrasments and insults to women at work place, institutions, home, while travelling or when she is lone, we can take many considerations where men who do this to her.It sometimes feels extremely uncomfortable and disturbed when a man stares at the upper part of a female body.
Yes! I can say 'We do have breasts and vaginas and that's the fact what makes us women and same fact in a different aspect makes the man.'
Men just use Rape as a weapon to threat her. But the fact is he is yet too little to pose such threats. For instance we can take examples of world renowned powerful women such as Kiran bedi, Priyanka Chopra, Kiran muzumdar Shaw, Group. Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairman, State Bank of India. Ashu Suyash, MD & CEO, Crisil. Aishwarya rai , Onake obavva, Geetha Kumari Phogat, Mary Kom, Neeta Ambani, Ekta kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar many more!
And okay let's take it in a global view Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncè, Lady Gaga, Ellen DeGenere, Hillary Clinton, Presidential candidate of the United State Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Faceboo, Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, there are many more poweful women and there are still more to list. We women already filled the gaps between what creates the 'gender discrimination' and we are there already in all the aspects of talents from Parent hood to Politics.
We women changed the perception of us in the history. So Deep down the heart, we don't want more or less of everything. We just want equal half of everything. Just like the color 'black and white' which are inseparable and absolutely pure and imperfect to code. We men and women are similar. We are and we want to be equal.
But being a blogger my review would be, though I stand for gender equality I still feel.. to be very frank , men have reached their parts but women have reached little more compared to men.
Thank you! :)
Natasha Mahathi.
